Film Photos

So I bought the film and batteries for that camera...

Why is film still so expensive when film cameras are practically extinct? UGH.

Anyway, I bought 4 rolls of film and two batteries. We'll see where that takes me.

An another note, school is getting insanely frustrating. I'm at the point in the semester where everything is due at once and it's incredibly annoying. So I think tonight I'm going to spend some time doing homework when I get home, and then perhaps take some sunset pics with the infamous camera.

:)

Hopefully pics to come in the future!!

New Project

So in the cupboard, my dad has this old camera. Apparently he bought it while he was in the Navy, which was in the early 80's.

It has a few lenses, including a zoom lens and a star lens filter.

I need to buy a new battery and some film, obviously.

But I am going to start kind of a photo diary I guess, and try to get creative with this awesome film camera.

Because let's just be honest, film kicks the crap out of digital photography. There is so much you can do with negatives and with various shots with a film camera...even though I do love editing digital photos. Playing with editing programs could keep me busy for days on end.

I'm so excited for this new adventure though.

My inspiration:

Stay tuned for some pics!! :) I'm hoping to pick up film and stuff this week!

Sometimes it's really hard to stay motivated.

Blah.

I hate school.

And everything related to it.

That's all.

Fall

So school starts today...and I'm so not ready. Not ready is an understatement. For sure.

I'm trying to keep a good attitude; it's definitely my last full year, and I need to just focus and get it overwith.

My new job is going really well...it's definitely been a blessing. I love the people I work with and the job is so much better than my old one. I'm not looked down upon as a "student" here, which is definitely a plus...

About two weekends ago Josh and I celebrated one year together. :) He surprised me by taking me to Cygnus, which was delicious. And they brought out a champagne toast to celebrate our anniversary. It was very cute.

After dinner, he took me on a carriage ride through the city. It was a lot of fun, very relaxing and pretty romantic. :)

He put a ton of planning into it, and I was very surprised and enjoyed it a lot...

Anyway, I'm going to get ready for class...awesome...

Hello!

So disc golf league is over. Last I knew I was in 2nd place for Most Improved by .2 strokes (see here. The entry from June 16, about the third entry down)...but I didn't have a very good round the last week, so I have a feeling I stayed second place. No trophy for me. lol. Oh well. Overall it was a lot of fun! We'll be having a banquet where we'll have a cookout and awards "ceremony." And we'll get a Champion Valkyrie with the store logo on it. You can always use more drivers I guess!

So I had an excellent weekend this weekend. Friday night I hung out with Josh, which is always great. Saturday we had a "scramble" tournament (where Josh threw, then I did, then Josh, etc.) for Disc League, and Josh entered for the Closest to Pin contest (he paid 2 bucks to enter, and whoever threw their disc closest to the basket won the pot.) He won $36! He won by like 2 inches, and it was awesome. haha. Dinner was paid for. ;)

Anyway after league we watched the World Cup game. Which, by the way, I have almost no interest in whatsoever, but I'm an awesome girlfriend lol. Actually, I ate pizza with him and his two friends who came over, then proceeded to go take a nap in his bed for 2 1/2 hours. It was so relaxing. After he woke me up, we headed out to the beach where we sat on the pier and watched the sunset. It was very cute. I've been wanting to do that all summer.

Sunday was cool...I had a girls day. I met three of my friends at Red Robin, we ate lunch, then we met another friend at the mall and went shopping...bought 2 new swimsuits for $15!! No, not each. Total. Yessssss. I love those little victories...

Anyway we came back to my house and swam, one of our friends headed to a work meeting, two of them ran to Family Fare, and the other two of us had a glass of wine and built a fire. Well...put wood in the firepit, and then Branden made us a fire. haha. The girls got back from family fare, another friend joined us, and we made Hobo Pies and S'mores! Mmmmm...

Definitely a good weekend. It was really hard to go back to work yesterday!

Bullet

So the Bullet for My Valentine concert was AMAZING. I want to go to another one. Can't wait till they tour the US again. Some pics:

For some reason I can't get them in order, and it's ticking me off. Oh well. So if you want you can start at the bottom, lol. It doesn't really matter.

Nice View.
Matt Again.
The third opening band...Chiodos. They were AWESOME live. Definitely the best of the opening bands.
The line before the concert. It was so crazy long. All the way back to Centerpointe mall!

So that was the concert! It was sooooooo good. And we had a pretty decent view until we got pushed to the back, lol. I hate moshing. It's so lame. Oh well.

Excited for the Weekend! :)

So, in 15 minutes I will be leaving for a BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE concert!!! I am pretty psyched, as it is one of my favorite bands of all time...

And tomorrow, I will be heading up to Silver Lake for the weekend, for the first time this year! :)

I survived my week from hell, and did okay on my accounting exam, but not as well as I would have liked. But there's nothing I can do, other than work even harder for the next one.

So, after this weekend there is sure to be an update, with concert and beach pics hopefully!!

League

So we went discing for league yesterday, and we finally got to go with everyone else in league because Josh finally had a Saturday off, so it was really nice.

He shot a -6, the best score for the day, which also increases his lead to 9 strokes, which should help to keep him in first place.

I, however, did not do nearly as well as last week; I shot a +4, which is still an improvement over the beginning of league. I'm still in the running for most improved!

I have a feeling that this week is going to be one of the longest weeks of my life...Here's the schedule...

Mon: Exam in my 8:30-11:50 class, work 1-5.
Tues: Work 8-5, exam in my 6-9:20 class (but I'll be out by 8...yay.)
Wed: Presentation/Paper due in 8:30-11:50 class. work 1-5.
Thurs: Work 8-5, paper due in my 6-9:20 class.

Awesome.

So basically, I will work, go to class, do homework, eat, and hopefully sleep a few hours somewhere in there.

BUT It gets me done with school by next April, so it will be worth it. At least that's what I'm trying to tell myself.

Anyway, break time is over. Back to studying/writing/etc.

Have an awesome week! :)

Oh, and by the way...if you've never heard "Soothsayer" by Buckethead, you should probably youtube it right now. It's my new addiction, probably the best song ever played. It's 9 minutes long, but you can get an idea after the first 4...

So go look it up. lol.

Finally an Update

So it's been over a year since my last update. Wow. I didn't realize it had been that long. (Amber and Missy...you should inform Uncle Don I am doing this. Haha.)

So quick recap of last year. Finished Winter Semester. Had a boring summer of work. Moved home. First date with Josh (aww. lol). We saw Funny People together. :) We "made it official" or whatever on August 18, after going out to dinner at Frankie V's on 28th street. He moved up to Ferris with his friends (and to go to school, lol). We saw each other once a week. Boo. Fall semester finished. Josh moved home (yay!).

Valentine's day he took me back to Frankie V's, which was adorable.

And that's everything exciting that's happened since my last update. Haha.

So as of yesterday Josh and I have officially been together for 9 months. Which is kind of exciting. It's been really awesome. :)

So Josh got me 100% addicted to disc sports. Disc golf, ultimate, freestyle frisbee...completely addicted. As if I need another thing to spend money on. lol.

We're in a disc golf league through Alpha Players, a small card and disc store on Division & 44th. Currently Josh is the Number One Disc Golfer! He pushed his way up to first with an awesome round at Brewer, where he shot -9, which put him ahead of the number 2 spot by 6 strokes. This week he held number one, but now he is only ahead by one stroke...so it's getting really close! Our Team, which is just Josh and me, is somewhere in the middle, due to my horrible lack of disc golf skills. (Good thing it's a just-for-fun league, or I think Josh would have found a new partner after the first week lol)

My first and second week scores at old farm were +24 and +18, and the third and fourth week scores were +16 and +16. The first time at Brewer (fifth week of league) I went back up to a +18.

However, the day after I shot +18 at Brewer, we went for fun, and I discovered the forehand throw, and my scores have improved sooooo much! Last week at Old Farm I shot -1. With my handicap of 10, that puts me at -11 for the week, which means I beat everyone I was playing against for the day! :)

So I'm really excited that I have improved my score by 25 strokes over the course of the league, and I'm definitely in the running for Most Improved! Sweet!

Anyway aside from Disc League, my summer is pretty boring. I'm taking two classes and working 35 hours, so there's not much time for anything other than homework and sleep in my free time. Oh well. If I finish these classes this summer, I won't have to take any next summer, so it's worth it. I can't wait to have a social life again though, haha.
